PEGGY SUZANNE WHITE TOIFEL
1944 - 2009
Mrs. Peggy Suzanne White Toifel, 65, of Milton, FL passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at University of South Alabama Medical Center.
Peggy was born April 6, 1944 in Atlanta, GA to the late Commander John Palmer White and the late Zora Garner White. She grew up in Phenix City, AL. She graduated from Central High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Howard College (Samford University) in Birmingham, AL. She graduated from the University of North Carolina with a Masters Degree in Library Science. She also received a Masters in Business from the University of West Florida. She moved to Mobile, AL to work in the Mobile Public Library. There she met the love of her life, Ron Toifel. They married on January 15, 1972. They moved with their three sons to Pensacola, FL to work for the University of West Florida Library. She was Chief Negotiator for the United Faculty of Florida and served as President of the local chapter. Peggy worked at the University of West Florida as a Librarian and Business Instructor. Ron and Peggy moved to Bagdad, FL in a home they restored. Peggy and Ron were active in the Bagdad Village Preservation Association and the Santa Rosa County Historical Society. Later the Toifels moved to Milton, FL where Peggy was very involved with the Friends of the Milton Library. After her retirement in 2004 Peggy enjoyed traveling with her husband and her new found passion - quilting. She enjoyed quilting with the Piece Makers Quilting Guild of Milton, FL, serving as President. She made many quilts for shelters as well as family and friends.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 38 years, Ronald Toifel; sons, Ronald Toifel, Jr. and wife, Bonnie of Navarre, FL; Mark Toifel and wife, Sherri of Jacksonville, FL; Lance Toifel and wife, Jennifer, of Loxley, AL; grandchildren, Taylor Toifel of Daphne, AL, Teagan Toifel of Loxley, AL, Catherine Scipioni and Kane Scipioni of Navarre, FL, Allen and wife, Kassie Cannon of Weoka, AL, Anissa Rudd and husband, Ben of Montgomery, AL; great-grandchildren, Ella Wooten, Stephanie and Forest Rudd of Montgomery, AL; brothers, John Mark White and wife, Carol Ann of Birmingham, AL, David E. White and wife, Lori of Phenix City, AL; nephew John Mark White, Jr.; nieces Mary Kathleen "Katie" White and namesake Annie Suzanne White; and numerous extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Santa Rosa County Library Foundation, Toifel Scholarship - University of West Florida Foundation.
